Durian durian durian... and MORE~!

Well, it all started with me sending Shanny back to UTP.
Yeah, dropped her and settle some of my stuffs with UTP and will be off the very next day.
Dad came and picked me up since he and his friends are attending a funeral at night in Taiping.

So that day was really like... 'durian runtuh' for me.
Why?

First, I brought Shanny to eat my all-time-fav wantan mee at the corner shop lot in Tronoh.
So after filling my stomach, I was satisfied as always!
Suddenly the lady (owner of the wantan mee stall), offered me durian.
Seems like her friend gave her a lot of them.
So Shanny and me just ate a few 'ulas'... and thanked them.
She asked me why not bring the durian back!
Well, Shanny doesn't really eat it and I am going home in the evening.
Didn't want to stink the car either!
That was how my day starts with durian....

So next stop was to the funeral in Batu Kurau.
Somewhere near Taiping or Kamunting.
What I heard from the elders were that durians from Batu Kurau are the best in the whole Malaysia!
Now, this I've gotta try!

I was like a stranger there since I do not know anyone there.
The funeral was for my deceased grandfather's cousin sister's husband...
He was 96 years old this year, but according to my dad.. in Chinese if after 90 years old, you add another 5 years to their age. So means he passed away at 101 years old!
And I do not know why need to add the years.
If below 90 years old, just add 3 years.
Btw, his family consists of 5 or 6 generations already!! @_@

So we were the earliest there for the funeral.
So we sat at the side while the family was following some ritual prayers since it's the last day.
Then later in the evening, I saw a guy bringing lots of durians at the back of his car.
He carried all down and settled them beside the house.
Seems like durians were part of the menu for that day. =)
Then they opened up a few and the deceased's family brought us some.
Had a few rounds there... Yeah, so that was my durian in the evening.
So I had quite a lot that I had to stop eating before I explode!

Every single durian were perfect! Smallest is the best!
Sweet and some are not sticky at all!
Some durians have only 1 ulas each side when you opened it.
That's the best!
The dark orangy ones above are 'sua durian' (wild durian)..
Tasted damn weird!!!
I had a few but didn't like the taste.
Couldn't get used to it and it is really really rich and thick that when you bite it, you couldn't eat the flesh at one go... Haha...
But most of the elders loved it! (Although I don't =D )

This type is nice!
The whole durian just have one at each side.
Kinda hard to find such durians.

Yeah this is how much they bought that day.
And added more at night!
Another seller brought all the durians on a motorcycle!!!
And yea... supper was durian as well.

Gosh!!!
I had durians 3 times in a day!!!
And I did whack a lot of them! =D
And that settles as my dinner and supper.
Didn't want to have anything else since I was too full with durian.
@_@

And the surprising part was... all the people whom I didn't know...
Most of them are related to me!!
I mean... I think more than 50% attended were Lim family.
And I meant really blood related ones!
Funny that I never knew or seen them!

To explain it better:
My great grandfather and their great grandfather are brothers!
The two siblings whom came to Malaysia!
So we have our branch and they have theirs.
That makes us like far apart cousins?
Lol!... Most of them are older though.

I find it weird that there are relatives I've never seen..
and yet wonderful as I couldn't imagine or believe I have such such really REALLY BIG FAMILY traced all the way back to my great grandfather!
Even if I might have met a few Lim before that we're related somehow, I might not even know it myself!
LOL!
